MORE THAN A SQUAD. MORE THAN A LEADER.

Squad Leaders are approved adult leaders who help guide participants through the Desirable Youth Challenge™, a year-long youth development experience presented by Desirable Home Care Services, LLC™.

Each Squad Leader helps build and guide a Squad of up to 10 approved youth participants, ages 13–18.

The role goes beyond supervising activities. Squad Leaders mentor young people, help develop practical skills, coordinate meaningful experiences, monitor progress, encourage accountability, and help participants grow increasingly confident and independent.

LEAD ACROSS FIVE PILLARS

Squad Leaders help guide participants through all five pillars of the Desirable Youth Challenge™:

LEAD

Help youth develop confidence, communication, teamwork, professionalism, public speaking, responsibility, and leadership.

SERVE

Help participants engage in approved community service, senior and community outreach, family initiatives, Care Is The Culture™, and other service experiences.

BUILD

Help youth develop entrepreneurship, customer service, financial literacy, marketing, business basics, sales, fundraising, and other practical real-world skills through approved experiences.

WELLNESS

Encourage participation in approved wellness education and challenges involving movement, hydration, nourishment, rest and recovery, Protect Your Peace, and positive everyday wellness habits.

IMPACT

Help participants identify community needs, develop ideas, create action plans, complete Community Impact experiences, and reflect on the difference they made.

WHAT DOES A SQUAD LEADER DO?

RECRUIT

Help identify prospective youth participants and direct interested youth and families to the official DHCS™ application process.

LEAD

Facilitate scheduled Squad Huddles, challenges, check-ins, activities, and approved program experiences.

MENTOR

Encourage participants, model professionalism, and help youth develop confidence, responsibility, communication, and independence.

TRAIN

Help participants develop practical skills across LEAD, SERVE, BUILD, WELLNESS, and IMPACT.

COORDINATE

Help coordinate approved community service, entrepreneurship, fundraising, wellness, outreach, event, and Community Impact experiences.

TRACK

Monitor participant engagement, documentation, Challenge Credit progress, and completion of required activities.

VERIFY

Verify eligible Challenge activities when authorized and help ensure required documentation is accurate and complete.

REPORT

Maintain communication with DHCS™ and submit or confirm required participant and Squad progress information.

Squad Leaders provide structure, mentorship, encouragement, and accountability—but participants are expected to do their own work.

Youth should increasingly learn to communicate, make decisions, solve problems, take responsibility, and demonstrate leadership throughout the Challenge.

The goal isn't simply to complete activities. The goal is to help young people grow.

BUILDING YOUR SQUAD

Each Squad Leader helps recruit and build a Squad of up to 10 approved youth participants.

Squad Leaders may recruit through appropriate community connections, referrals, outreach, events, and other approved methods.

DHCS™ may also recruit participants through community outreach, partnerships, events, referrals, social media, and other approved channels.

All youth applications must be submitted through the official DHCS™ application process.

HOW YOUTH SELECTION WORKS

1. Youth submits the official Desirable Youth Challenge™ application.
2. DHCS™ completes an initial eligibility and application-completeness review.
3. Eligible applicants may be interviewed by the appropriate Squad Leader.
4. Participant selection is completed through a shared DHCS™ and Squad Leader review process.
5. Required parent/guardian documentation is completed before final enrollment.
6. DHCS™ confirms final administrative enrollment and maintains official program records.

STAYING CONNECTED WITH YOUR SQUAD

Squad Leaders maintain consistent contact with participants through scheduled Squad Huddles, weekly challenges/check-ins, program activities, service experiences, and other approved communications.

Squad Leaders are responsible for helping participants stay informed, monitoring progress, and communicating upcoming activities and requirements.

The official program calendar identifies required Huddles, activities, deadlines, service opportunities, special events, and other important dates.

This structure provides consistent engagement without requiring every week of the year to operate as a formal Squad meeting.

HELPING YOUTH TRACK THEIR PROGRESS

The Desirable Youth Challenge™ uses a 100-Challenge-Credit system built across five pillars:

• LEAD — 20 Credits
• SERVE — 20 Credits
• BUILD — 20 Credits
• WELLNESS — 20 Credits
• IMPACT — 20 Credits

Squad Leaders help monitor participant progress, review required documentation, verify eligible activities when authorized, and submit or confirm required progress information with DHCS™.

DHCS™ maintains overall oversight of the Challenge Credit system.

Challenge Credits cannot be purchased, transferred, earned by another person, or automatically awarded based on sales dollars, fundraising totals, registration, or attendance alone.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP, FUNDRAISING & SALES

Entrepreneurship, sales, raffles, fundraising, sponsorship introductions, and event support may be included as approved BUILD experiences.

Squad Leaders help teach participants appropriate customer service, professional communication, financial responsibility, marketing, sales, and recordkeeping skills during these experiences.

Squad Leaders and participants may not independently create prices, discounts, payment methods, QR codes, refund policies, sponsorship packages, contracts, agreements, or promises on behalf of DHCS™.

SUPPORTING YOUTH WELLNESS

Squad Leaders help encourage participation in approved WELLNESS experiences while keeping the program's wellness resources appropriately distinguished.

COACH SPUD™

Coach Spud™ supports active, everyday wellness education through KEEP MOVING™, movement, hydration, nourishment, rest and recovery, and Protect Your Peace.

DHCS™ WELLNESS LOUNGE

The DHCS™ Wellness Lounge provides a quieter experience where participants can listen to relaxing sounds, slow down, reset, and enjoy a moment of calm.

The Wellness Lounge does not create an additional Challenge Credit category. WELLNESS remains a maximum of 20 Challenge Credits.

HELPING YOUTH MAKE THEIR MARK

Squad Leaders support participants as they move from learning to meaningful community action.

During IMPACT experiences, leaders may help youth identify a community need, develop an approved idea, create an action plan, complete a Community Impact Project, and prepare a final reflection or presentation.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong Squad Leader candidates should demonstrate maturity, reliability, communication, organization, professionalism, leadership, and a genuine interest in helping young people grow.

• Age 20 or older
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable mentoring and working with youth
• Leadership or community involvement experience preferred
• Entrepreneurial or business-minded attitude welcomed
• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and professionalism
• Ability to follow DHCS™ program standards and documentation requirements
• Reliable transportation for applicable in-person activities
• Ability to make a year-long program commitment
• Located in or able to serve the Greater New Orleans or Greater Houston area

THE SQUAD LEADER JOURNEY

1. Apply — Submit the official Squad Leader application.
2. Review & Interview — DHCS™ reviews your application and may invite you to interview.
3. Screening — Complete any required screening or background-check process, when applicable.
4. Acceptance — Approved applicants receive official Squad Leader acceptance.
5. Orientation — Learn program standards, responsibilities, participant safeguards, documentation, Challenge Credit procedures, and approved activity guidelines.
6. Build Your Squad — Begin approved recruitment and participate in the youth selection process.
7. Lead the Journey — Mentor, coordinate, track, verify, report, and help participants grow across all five pillars.

LEADERSHIP, RECOGNITION & GROWTH

DHCS™ may offer approved Squad Leader recognition and incentive opportunities connected to participation, program performance, approved fundraising or BUILD activities, leadership, and community impact.

Official incentive details, eligibility requirements, payment terms, and campaign-specific opportunities will be communicated through current DHCS™ program materials.

ADVANCED LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

High-performing Squad Leaders may be considered for advanced leadership opportunities, including future Regional Coordinator roles as the Desirable Youth Challenge™ expands.

Advancement may consider participant retention, program compliance, youth development, leadership, reporting, community impact, and overall Squad performance.

Advancement is based on program needs and demonstrated performance and is not automatically guaranteed by sales or fundraising totals.

The Desirable Youth Challenge™ serves youth in the Greater New Orleans and Greater Houston areas.

Program opportunities may differ by location. DHCS™ may approve equivalent activities when a particular experience is not reasonably available in a participant's region.
